YAY KIRKLAND JACKSON! Kirkland Jackson of Tuckahoe Middle School is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored him recently at Tuckahoe.

YAYWORTHY— Nominator Tammy Parent said: “Mr. Jackson has gone above and beyond to connect with students, before school even started. From helping his first-year band students select the instrument best suited to them, to teaching an entire class, all playing different instruments (virtually), he has been outstanding! I am in awe.

“I know nothing about reading music or playing an instrument, but he helped me understand how to pick the best instrument for my son. It’s important for me that my son has a positive experience with music education. Mr. Jackson took the time to explain the mechanics and skills needed to play different instruments.

“Can you believe this man somehow managed to organize, teach and assemble a winter band concert with first-year band students all playing from their own homes? Phenomenal! We are thankful for Mr. Jackson’s dedication and innovation during these challenging times.”

Thank you for all you do, Kirkland, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
