YAY WILLIE CLINE! Willie Cline of the Advanced Career Education Center at Highland Springs is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored her recently at the ACE Center.

YAYWORTHY— Nominator Rich Meador said: “His passion for teaching his students and ability to get them engaged gives his students a jumpstart on a career that they may otherwise not have been exposed to. A prime example is all his work at the Henrico County Public Schools project house, teaching his students what it’s like to work on a real job site.”

Another nominator said: “Willie Cline goes above and beyond every day:
– He’s been working with limited in-person electricity students since October.
– He’s helped bring two new virtual programs for support trades students to the ACE Center.
– He helps mentor two new electricity teachers at other buildings.

“He noticed that one of his students had a fire alarm go off at his house while he was in class. Willie tried numerous ways to encourage the student to get it fixed and finally went to the principal to get the Henrico County Fire Division to come out to help. The next day the student said “Mr. Cline, you sent the fire department to my house?” Willie said, “Yes, I want you and your family to be safe.” The student said, “Wow, that’s the nicest thing a teacher has ever done for me!”

Thank you for all you do, Willie, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
