YAY STEVE MILLS! Steve Mills, head custodian at Gayton Elementary School, is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored Steve recently at Gayton.

YAYWORTHY— Nominator Kirk Eggleston, Gayton principal, said: “Steve Mills, our head custodian at Gayton, consistently goes above and beyond. His initiative, dedication and pride in his work is touted by all in our school community. He is a tremendous manager of his team as well. It is the best custodial staff I have EVER worked with, hands down.”

Gayton’s cafeteria manager said: “I just wanted to let you know how grateful we are in the cafeteria to have Steve at Gayton. He has been phenomenal with helping us with curbside meals service. He is always there to lend a helping hand to all of us. Steve always has a smile on his face and volunteers his help without even being asked to do so.

“Recently, just as I was getting ready to leave, I received an unexpected email that we would also need to have food prepared for Monday to hand out along with Thursday and Friday meals. Steve heard about it and right away volunteered to help move cases of food to set up stations for my ladies to prepare more bags. Unfortunately, in todays world there are not many employees that have his work ethic. He is a wonderful asset to Gayton and I just wanted to let you know how appreciative we are for all he does.”

Thank you for all you do, Steve, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
