YAY MEGAN BOUTON! Megan Bouton of Echo Lake Elementary School is today’s “Yay of the Day” honoree. Superintendent Amy Cashwell honored Megan recently at Echo Lake.

YAYWORTHY— Megan received three nominations. Nominator Autumn Jonas said: “She makes everything fun. She taught me and my little brother, and she has been our favorite teacher ever. She makes learning fun and engaging. Everything in her classroom is personalized for the students and there is everything kindergarteners like. There are different jobs you can do in her classroom and different activities each day. She has a thing called “Beaming Bee.” Beaming Bee is a day where a student gets to bring in things to show and tell, gets to be line leader, and the whole day is focused on them. Every students gets to be Beaming Bee, and it really makes you feel like you belong and the people value you. This is one of the many magical things that happen in Mrs. Bouton’s kindergarten classroom.”

Manasvi Thangavelu said: “She deserves a Yay of the Day for all the hard work she is putting in to make the virtual learning a huge success. Every single day she starts the virtual class with so much enthusiasm and positivity during these trying times of the pandemic. All the kids in her class adore her and so does my son.”

Drew Baker nominated Megan, along with Anne-Marie Slinkman: “Megan and Anne-Marie coach and support colleagues pursuing National Board Certification each month. They moved the entire NBCT support structure to a virtual environment. These two teachers never stopped trying to help colleagues even in the middle of their own move toward virtual teaching. Last month they led an especially engaging meeting where they helped teachers reflect on videos of themselves teaching. By the end of the meeting all of the participants felt inspired and ready to keep experimenting and innovating in this new classroom.”

Thank you for all you do, Megan, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
