To the Henrico team,

I’m writing to elaborate on some positive news about the COVID-19 vaccine which, as I briefly mentioned last Thursday, will soon be made available to preK-12 teachers and staff as part of Virginia’s Phase 1B.

As you may know, we are now working in partnership with the Henrico Health Department to make the vaccine available to you, as an HCPS employee (this includes PREP employees, part-time employees, temporary employees, Adult Education, etc.) Timelines and other logistics are forthcoming; however, it should be noted that this is a priority effort and vaccines could begin to be administered to all employees starting as soon as next week.

One important component of a smooth vaccination effort is adequate planning. Henrico County must have an understanding of how many employees intend to receive the vaccine this month, and how many employees need more information before making that choice.

I can tell you that our county’s health department, in the very near future, plans to hold a virtual information session to share more specifics and answer questions related to the vaccine. In the meantime, you will receive an automated email message at 3:00 this afternoon that includes a link to a two-question survey about the vaccine. Your assistance in responding to the survey would be most appreciated so that we can understand how to best plan vaccination efforts for the HCPS team.

Again, at 3:00 today you will receive an automated email message from “Henrico County Public Schools” which will include a link to a survey to help us plan. Your response will be critical in helping us make effective plans!

Thank you for reading. I’ll be back in touch as soon as possible with next steps related to a vaccine information session for employees and dates for upcoming vaccination efforts.
