Henrico, Va., Nov. 13, 2020 — Henrico County Public Schools families and other community members are invited to a Highland Springs Community Meeting Thursday to discuss the Achievable Dream Academy at Highland Springs Elementary School. The meeting will be held both in person at New Bridge Learning Center auditorium and in a virtual format using Microsoft Teams. Alicia Atkins, Varina District School Board representative, will attend. The meeting will involve a presentation and an opportunity to ask questions and share thoughts and recommendations. No registration is required.

In January 2017, the Henrico School Board approved a unique public/private partnership with nonprofit group An Achievable Dream to bring its program to Highland Springs Elementary. Under the agreement, HCPS provides basic curricula and staffing, student services, transportation, food service and maintenance. An Achievable Dream creates a unique learning environment with state-of-the-art technology and extensive extracurricular and cultural activities. Students learn life skills, ethics, etiquette, conflict resolution, healthy living and financial skills. The program also operates in public schools in Newport News and Virginia Beach.
