Specialty Centers

Are you a student with a concentrated area of interest or special talent?

If so, consider attending an HCPS specialty center. The centers, located in each of the division's comprehensive high schools and at three middle schools, offer Henrico County students opportunities to focus their learning experiences. The centers offer advanced courses to students with clear interests and specific educational and/or career goals.

As you plan for your future, consider your goals after high school. In addition to the traditionally strong academic programs offered at each Henrico comprehensive high school, attending a specialty center is an opportunity to concentrate on a specialized interest while completing a rigorous college-preparatory program.

New in August 2026: The Center for Cybersecurity @ Henrico High School

Center for Cybersecurity

The Center for Cybersecurity at Henrico High School will open in Fall 2026 as Henrico County Public Schools’ 16th specialty center, offering a four-year program for incoming freshmen interested in careers in cybersecurity. The program blends technical training with essential soft skills, preparing students to troubleshoot networks, assess security risks, and safeguard digital assets. Students will have the chance to earn industry-recognized certifications such as CompTIA A+ and Network+, participate in competitions, and gain real-world experience through projects, hackathons, and potential internships.

Applications for the Center for Cybersecurity will open during this fall’s specialty center application window. Learn more about the program by visiting the Center for Cybersecurity page.
