Henrico County Public Schools seeks public input on integration of “STEAM” into middle schools

Henrico County Public Schools has embarked on the process of transforming its middle schools and is soliciting comments from the public. HCPS will hold two simultaneous public input sessions next Wednesday night:

Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 6-7 p.m.
John Rolfe Middle School , 6901 Messer Road, Henrico, Va. 23231

Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 6-7 p.m.
Glen Allen High School, 10700 Staples Mill Road, Glen Allen, Va. 23060

The input sessions are designed to gather feedback from the public about integrating STEAM curricula – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math – into the division’s middle schools.

The input sessions will involve a short presentation from HCPS leaders, followed by a question and answer session.

Previous discussions had focused on the creation of a separate STEAM academy at an HCPS middle school. Focus groups expressed an interest in having STEAM programs available across all HCPS middle schools.
