Board approves 2 redistricting priority area proposals; Plans to revisit “countywide” redistricting with discussions in late summer/early fall 2021

The School Board voted at its Jan. 28, 2021, meeting to implement proposals to address attendance boundaries in two redistricting priority areas. The changes will go into effect in fall 2021. The Board approved proposals to:

  • Make the most effective use of the additional capacity available when the expansion project is finished at Holladay Elementary School in the Brookland District.

  • Address overcapacity issues at Colonial Trail and Rivers Edge elementary schools in the Three Chopt District.

On Nov. 12, 2020, the Board voted to postpone action on the third priority area, and will hold further discussions in fall 2021. The third priority area involves reexamining the feeder elementary schools for the way students are assigned to Quioccasin Middle School in the Tuckahoe District.
