Operations

The Division of Operations supports the school division’s infrastructure and critical functions that contribute to the safety, efficiency and functionality of the school system.

Safety: Responsible for maintaining multi-layered safety plans for the division and at each school, department personnel undergo rigorous training to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from all emergency situations within or near school premises. Staff are liaisons to the Henrico Police Division and have oversight of school-based security officers at every school.

Transportation: Managing a fleet of 658 vehicles to transport more than 28,000 students each day, the department oversees annual licensing, preventative maintenance, service operations, and training for the division's bus drivers.

Facilities: The Facilities Department is dedicated to maintaining safe, healthy, and comfortable learning environments across all Henrico County Public Schools facilities. This commitment includes the timely repair, maintenance, and cleanliness of school buildings. Moreover, the department is involved in capital planning as well as the design, construction management, and accountability of school construction, renovation, and replacement projects.

Technology: The Technology Department is responsible for the seamless integration of technology into the school system. This includes supporting all student and staff devices in a 1:1 learning environment, managing technical systems, networks, and security, and technical support of the student information system and digital learning platforms used across the school division.
