Job candidates: Start the new year with a new career

cafeteriaA new year is fast approaching; make 2017 the best year yet by joining the Henrico County Public Schools family. The school division is seeking full-time and substitute bus drivers, along with substitutes for both school nutrition and custodial services workers. Members of the HCPS Human Resources, School Nutrition Services, Custodial Services and Pupil Transportation departments will be at the Henrico Workforce Resource Center in eastern Henrico Dec. 6 to talk with interested candidates.

“See why driving a bus, working in one of our 72 schools’ cafeterias or substituting as a custodian are great jobs for individuals with flexible schedules, who want to earn extra money and who enjoy working with students,” said Mary Alderson, human resources specialist.

Candidates for full-time and substitute bus drivers must: be at least 21 years old; have a high school diploma or equivalent; have a valid Virginia driver’s license; obtain a CDL instructional permit or hold a CDL Class B permit with endorsements in P (Transporting Passengers)/S (School Bus) and airbrakes; pass a physical and drug test and have no felony convictions.

The school division is expected to hold another job fair Jan. 10 at Henrico County Public Library’s Varina Area Library. The division is also planning to hold its large-scale HCPS Teacher Hiring Event Feb. 25 at Glen Allen High School.
