School Board meeting with Henrico’s General Assembly legislative delegation


The County School Board of Henrico County, Va. will hold the following special meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 at 7:30 a.m., in the Culinary Arts Room of the Advanced Career Education Center at Hermitage, 8301 Hungary Spring Road, Henrico, Va.  The School Board will conduct a breakfast meeting with Henrico County’s General Assembly legislative delegation for the purpose of reviewing the School Board’s legislative goals.

What’s the future of school safety? Join us Dec. 7 when experts share their knowledge

John Richardson-Lauve of the nonprofit group ChildSavers will talk about the future of school safety Dec. 7 at L. Douglas Wilder Middle School.

How can we help keep kids safe and healthy? What will school safety look like in the future? On Dec. 7 come hear John Richardson-Lauve of the nonprofit group ChildSavers talk about the future of school safety, one of Henrico Schools’ cornerstones. A Henrico County Police representative will also be there.

Richardson-Lauve is director of mental health, as well as lead trauma and resilience educator for ChildSavers, which was founded in Richmond in 1924 to aid children. He is a licensed clinical social worker with more than 20 years of experience working in community and mental health. Richardson-Lauve has worked with homeless veterans in New York City; in a hospice home for those with HIV; and spent six years working in a home with teenagers in foster care.

The event is part of HCPS’ creation of a new strategic plan for 2018-25. The school division is asking citizens for their input in helping chart HCPS’ future, including school-based focus groups, community input events that are open to the public, online comments and at least one public hearing.
